St. James NEST provides both educational and support services to make that a reality. Please join us for this educational series aimed at offering solutions, discussions and tools for aging in place. This presentation will touch on personal security, potential limitations of seniors, and the most useful tactics to protect yourself and your property. Nancy is a long time St. James resident with a wealth of knowledge in protection strategies for seniors. From this non-firearm, non-martial arts presentation you will:
- Learn about Brunswick County Crime Statistics such as property theft, sexual offenders, and age-related statistics
- Understand what to expect from a criminal in mindset and behavior
- Understand why St James would be a target
- Gather quick tips on how to stay safe during travel
- Know how to use assistive devices as protection tools

It is as important as blood pressure, pulse, etc. This presentation will change the perceptions of what you think you can do and redefine the aging process. Come learn how to develop healthy habits aimed at improving your strength, both physically and mentally.

Navigating the US Healthcare System

The complexities of the US healthcare system combined with an increase in personal healthcare needs may leave you feeling frustrated, confused and ultimately, stressed. What do I need? Where do I go? What is covered? Understanding healthcare in the US and the resources available to you is vital to the care you receive. When you lack knowledge, it becomes difficult to be your own best advocate. This session will provide you with a map of the US healthcare maze and guidance from a healthcare navigator on how to work in, around, and through any medical issues, questions and/or services.
